Photographer's Note

Still on street photography in Songpan ancient walled town, panning shot taken on a slight overcast late afternoon. What a better way to enjoy the small place by taking a leisurely joy ride on a traditional yellow & green three-wheeler - the main form of public transport here. What a statement regarding our modern age! a bygone way of doing things but no need to wear ear muffs because of noisy engines, and great that these wonderful workhorses still doing what they know the best. There are dozens of them operating all over town, in and out of the walls. It costs only fractions of a dollar.

Stationed across the road just outside the wall with monopod mounted, I wanted to catch the dynamics at that time as the rider was probably rushing for passengers and there's a certain sense of urgency. This is just a choreography, it's real life a moment in time as we see it when frozen with just the right amount of motion blur, of course the First Law of Motion Blur applies.

Another second would have been too late....

I like how you captured movement and speed. The cyclist is colorfully dressed and it creates good point of interest in the whole blurred image.

I know I've mentioned before how much I learn from and appreciate your portraiture but motion blur is another area I would like to someday master too and this is a shining example. The level of blur gives the impression that the man is traveling at incredible speed and ours funny that he looking behind him for this capture. As always the Off center composition works perfectly giving a great amount of space for him to drive into

it's very interesting to see the three-wheeler and its driver in action, the sense of movement conveyed by your photo is most enjoyable. Details and colours stand out superbly, the ambiance is fascinatingly blurry and sufficiently comprehensible. I like how you handled the homogeneous lighting that allows us to see through the blurry movement. The workshop picture is very good, despite the difficult lighting. The daily life setting it presents is exotic and full of information. Congratulations and thank you!

A good example of how to tranform a mundane street scene into a stunning and appealing picture, giving the sense of motion. Though the ricksaw is not frozen, we can detail its pure colors bursting out of the grey background, well off centered to give place in front of it.

Great effect created by panning to make the rickshaw look like it is moving at F1 speed!! I wonder what is he trying to do looking back, that too moving at such speed. I like the fact that you have shown enough details on the vehicle for the viewer to enjoy its colourful details. Very well done, thanks for sharing.

very impressive capture. I remember you have a whole series of similar shots in various circumstances. I have to try to do something like that someday but we have no interesting means of transport around so I have to be creative. Great dynamic shot with nice colors which add to the interesting mood.

Great way of capturing movement through panning and obtaining that way a blured BG
You obtained a very personal and creative , not to say plenty of mouvement, capture
About the vehicule, now with the economical crisis I saw and take similar ones in London, Paris, New York, Berlin, MUnich , Mexique
It s said they are (quite true)environmentally friendly

never tried this kind of shots and effect,but you were able to capturea dn convey perfectly dynamic and lively character of this scene.The motion is shown excellently here(I´ll have to try how to achieve such effect)
