Photographer's Note
The Great Wall at Huangya mountain. We asked this fellow reading the newspaper about the reconstruction of the wall here. Apparently only the white plaster is new (as you can see in the background), but all the beautiful stone you see here is original. The reason we asked was because this section of the wall was very different than the section directly below. He said that that section (below) was refurbished in 1985. As you hike along the wall toward the peak you see in the background, the left side of the wall disappears and mostly only the steps remain.

Hello April Jo,
This is a compelling shot of the Great Wall, with the backlit misty background. You've also provided a succinct but informative note. We saw the Great Wall in1983, at Badelung Pass, about approximately a two-hour drive from Beijing, but this dramatic topography with a vertical rise was nowhere to be seen. Excellent shot, and welcome to Trekearth.
Warm regards from Virginia,

Here is a (rare) case in which the burned-out sky actually contributes to the image. It seems as if the gorgreous, diffused, green light is spilling over the edge of the mountain. So, good choice on exposition here. Of course, it also helps to preserve the details in the bottom part.
As for the bottom part: Nice balance between the guy and the 'mini-diagonal' provided by the wall. I like-a-lot. It would have been better had the focus been on the guy rather than the wall.
There is something odd vignetting going on by the sides. Is it some sort of frame made in pp? I find it really distracting.
Cheers,
Mikkel
