Drum Tower, a photo from Shaanxi, Centre

Photographer's Note

Here's another night shot I've taken in Xian. This is the Drum Tower, one ofthe most important monuments in the old part of Xian. It was built in the 14th century, during the Ming Dinasty. Behind the tower, we have the Muslim Quarter, one of my favourite areas in Xian.
It was too late for blue hour and it had been foggy all day. Also, as usually when I travel, I had to find a place to use as a support, as I had no tripod but I couldn't resist taking some photos there in the evening. As it was the New Year's Festival, there were lights everywhere.

Hi Ana,
Impressive capture of this beautiful building. I have seen the Drum Tower in Beijing but not this one.
Very good exposure control not withstanding no tripod. Steady hands.
The building and the lights look brilliant, and being able to include the big drum just showing above the rampart adds to your composition and POV.

Wow, that golden light illuminating the Drum Tower so beautifully. I was here 10 or so years ago, I don't think it was illuminated at night. good night shot, Thanks for sharing.

Oi Ana ,
Magnifica a iluminação deste edifício chinês parece feito de ouro , gostei muito dos detalhes , foi pena a luz em forma de estrela desvia um pouco o nosso olhar , talves podias ter cortado não sei só vendo :), gosto muito deste tipo de arquitectura acho magnifica , parabéns!!

Olá Ana,
É estranho esta ter tido tão pouca atenção. É certo que tecnicamente não está perfeita, mas atendendo às circunstâncias está excelente e a miniatura até é muito chamativa. Gosto imenso da compo e das cores. O Gonçalo tem alguma razão quanto à luz no canto inferior esquerdo distrair um bocadinho, mas gosto de a ver e provavelmente sem ela a imagem ficaria mais monótona.

a magnificient view of the Drum Tower! Very well done, compliments! I don't like so much Xi'an, maybe because when I was there have not have good time, but I remember well some wonderful things, and one is sure the Drum Tower.

Olá Ana,
Soubeste escolher o ângulo de visão muito bem, apesar de teres sido obrigada a te limitares às opções onde apoiar a câmera, como dizes na tua nota. Gostei do efeito da luz em estrela e do efeito de halo em torno do edifício em conseqüência do "fog".

Belíssima imagem, Ana.
Eu tenho uma semelhante da parte de trás da Cidade Proibida, postada aqu no TE.
O que mais me agrada aqui é a tonalidade quase monocromática e a iluminação que deixa todos os detalhes bem expostos; a estrela de seis pontas à esquerda é o máximo.
