Photographer's Note
Some may think it's a 1950's photo of Manhattan Bridge with old taxi models.
But this is the Howrah Bridge, a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal. The bridge is one of the four on the Hooghly River and it successfully bears the weight of a daily traffic of approximately 80,000 vehicles and, possibly, more than 1,000,000 pedestrians.
This bridge is one of the finest cantilever bridges in the world - left to India by the British engineers.
You can see more Ambassador cars here and here.

Hello Andre,
The clarity of this shot is excellent. And the bright yellow and curves of the taxi are really beautiful.
The taxi contrasts nicely with the blurred bridge in the background. Good DOF.
Best regards,
Andrew

Hi Andre
the lighting is excellent. the light seems to highlight the exact areas that need it the most.
I'm not sure how that obtained, whether it was natural or in photoshop...but nonetheless, its spectacular.
The overall composition is well thought thru, we can tell you took your time to place the lines and ironwork in just the right spots.
informative write-up aswell.
all around, a great success

Yves.

Hello André,
The most remarkable feature of this photo is not that it draws our thoughts back in time a few decades, but how you managed to find a view of just taxis on this very busy bridge which is usually packed with all imaginable kinds of vehicles.
Btw, I guess you are aware that taking photographs on this bridge is strictly prohibited. I was once arrested for taking a picture like this!

Gert

Hi André!
Yes, one could certainly get this place mixed up with the "Big Apple": yellow caps, iron bridge...
Great idea and superb visual results, specially those regarding light, colors, contrast between sharp and blurred elements and composition!
I really like it!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,

Salut Andre.
Bravo.

Hi Andre
smart title and great unconventional composition, with those cabs shot from behind in a (post) industrial environment.
Have a good day

Hi Andre.
And you are right...it doesn't seem India.
Despite I've never been in Manhattan Bridge, is the typical 50's image I have on my mind.
Well done!

Hey Andre
No one can resist taking pictures of those taxi in Calcutta!
I took many pictures of those taxis, but the quality not even close to compare with this one.
A great light came between those bridge metals, made it a shiny taxi and great contrast in the rather moody dark road.. or compare to other taxis..
Wonderful shot. Did you actually take that taxi while you're there. I didn't :-P

Salut Taximan

There is a whole lot of mellow yellow going on here, but I am sure that they are not such mellow drivers ;-)
Fabulous angle of view and you waited for exactly the perfect moment, although knowing you I am sure that you have taken several frames to come out with this great one. The dappled light filtering through the steel bridge adds an extra nice dimension to the scene. Great with basically two tones and perfect that there were no other vehicles other than these cool cute yellow rounded cars in the scene at the time. I am wondering if at some point you photographed one of these very tiny yellow taxi signs for your series ;-)

Hi Andre,
I like the compossition and the focus on the taxi closest to us, but mostly what attracted me was the beautiful warm colour tone, very warm, shwoing that we can acheive such a great tone in the digital realm. A quality shot.
