Photographer's Note
#4
Another picture of laborers carrying sacks of corn to the truck waiting outside the factory.
Series:Poultry food manufacturing factory
During my last visit to Kolkata, I visited a poultry food factory owned by a friend of mine. The food mainly consists of corn sparsely mixed with other grains. We were there for about 15 minutes which gave me the opportunity to take a few shots.

hey, this is a really cool shot, although it lacks a little bit of sharpness (maybe after compression to internet standards).
of course the light is superb here, but also the position of all characters is very well balanced.
interesting note also.

Splendid shot, Prantik, in every way. Interestingly it manages to combine some elements of both ANimesh and SOhrab but in color and with your own stamp on it of course. Superb management of light for effect - a scene from a movie. AGain tose great shafts of light coming through the small windows...
Brilliant work,
Francis

Hello prantik,
A very attractive picture... the light is mangnificent... the expression of the workers and their posture are full of symbol.
TFS!

In your series on this place I like this one the most so far. It has all the visual appeals of the previous ones, the same shafts of light, and the same activities of laborers at work. But this also provides a telling contrast of the lean physique of the laborers with the bulging mid sections of the Babus. A good social commentary.

Great daily life shot, with interesting characters and objects. The lighting is very good, I like the rays entering from the window. Also, all the feed on the ground is interesting, and it feels like a factory in this photo. Great mood shot.

P.S. I have visited Kolkata and it is an incredibly interesting city, but indeed has some of the worst poverty I've ever seen (compared to both the world and other cities in India). I look forward to more photos of your city.

On the thumbnail this looked full of promise - lots going on, and very atmospheric with the light streaming through the windows. Sadly, the image is suffering quite badly from camera shake, and the tilt to the right doesn't really work for me.
I think it would have been better to raise the ISO to enable you to use a faster shutter speed - better to have a sharp noisy image than a blurry noise-free one. The increased noise/grain would also have added to the atmosphere of the photo.
Yes, if it was sharper and if you'd kept the camera straight you'd have had a winner here Prantik.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Prantik,
Another great shot in your series on Calcutta and this one again on the poultry food manufacturing. Hard work under harsh circumstances and again well caught with the beautiful light. Quite noisy, but it adds to the atmosphere. Nice one!!
Greetings,
Dennis
PS: On the ISO remark. I expect that you were already at ISO 400 here. I wouldn't have made it noisier myself and as for the sharpness, a VR lense does wonders ;-).

Alright...just saw this one..yet another one from your series,I am always looking for such light that I see here P...and its a delight to see your photographs in this series having it...makes all the difference to an otherwise "difficult-to-make -a-striking photograph-scene"...

It is an excellent picture with a very good composition and superb colours. The light beam over the men really highlights the hard work they perform for a little amount of money. Well done.
