Photographer's Note

Leaving our guesthouse in Nako , after a frugal lunch, we walked to explore the village on the other side of Nako Lake. The Nako village consists of a cluster of houses nestling at the feet of mighty mountain ranges.

Nako at an altitude of 3662 metres or 12,014 ft, is a picturesque location …The flanks of the Reo Purgyal, 6816 metres high, the highest mountain peak in Himachal Pradesh, descend in gradual, rounded slopes till they meet the green of the irrigated fields. Here the gradient becomes even gentler, easing into numerous glacier-created hollows on the hillside, before descending sharply to Spiti. We could see snow falling at the tops reaches of these mountains, as it became windy and cold.
There was a total silence around the village...the men & women folk had gone down to the valley on the occasion of Buddha's birthday, which was a couple of days before. Only the children roamed around in the village, unattended, yet responsible enough to manage the younger ones.

Here is one such young girl taking her kid brother for a piggybacking ride on her back. She had no school that week, the school being closed on occasion of Lord Buddha's birthday celebrations. The harsh sun in the high altitudes had rendered her skin to take a darker complexion. You can see the high snow capped mountain ranges in a blur in the BG.

If I have to nitpick myself, I could have cropped the right portion to create an off-centre composition as an option.
