Lady in Red!, a photo from Jammu and Kashmir, Nord

This one was shot at Dal Lake in Kashmir,India..while we were waiting there for our boat to be rowed.. this lady was on her own and rowing her boat ever so gracefully!

Dal Lake is a settlement of one of its kind. I had heard about way of life on the Lake but its vivacity didn't strike me until I saw it. So many houses on the lake and just as many shikaras/boats.. Can you believe the lake has a wi-fi connectivity all over?!!:O It was an amusing experience to shop on the floating shops and drink tea from a sailing vendor!

Improvements:
Adjusted sharpness, contrast and cropped the colorless sky and added a border.

Hi Neelima!
It`s not the bestv exposure but I like your POV and the composition a lot.I like her rowing pose and her orange scarf in the wind.The background is interseting too,with these many wooden houses.
A great shot.
I can`t wait to wake up in your wonderful country in 5 days......

Hello,

I like a lot this photo with many life, a good composition and the woman acting inside the landscape well translated.
However, there is a big trouble due to the white balance with too much yellow in the photo. I propose you a WS correcting this issue.
I think you did not notice this due to a bad color calibration on your monitor. You have to put more blue or set the temperature setting of the monitor around 6000°K.

Hello Neelima,

you are right: the lady is very elegant and full of grace, as it is this composition of yours. I like the two parallel lines, the boat and the shoreline, and the lady is just in the right position. Even if the sky was cloudy you mananged to get nice colours and contrast. A very intriguing photo.

Hi Neelima,
I have seen all versions of this very artistic picture. This one seems to be more balanced on composition than the original, but the third (workshop) version is better on colors. The three are very well done. Good job!

I love the energy of movement contained in this image - her flowing red wrap, the splash of her paddle cutting into the surface of the water. The line of buildings in the background provide a great graphic. Warm colors, nicely composed - well done!

Hello Neelima--It surprises me that one often sees photos from India of women dressed very elegantly in bright colors and delicate chiffon, yet doing very physical things, like manual labor or long walks on dirt roads (as in this photo of mine.) In your photo, surely that nice scarf will end up wet, and probably dirty from whatever is in the bottom of the boat. But the scarf certainly adds elegance to the image, blowing back in a swirl of orange.

I do agree that the photo is very yellow--the WS fixes that.

Very beautiful scene. I find this photo impressivebecause of this woman who seems so fragile on this small boat with the dark clouds, and the wind which makes tilt trees at the bottom. She rows against the current. She is as a princess, full of grace and femininity on this quite small boat.
