Photographer's Note

Hello everybody

I visited Diskit Monastery at Nubra Valley in Ladakh on 4th July, 2012. This is 32 metre statue of Maitreya Buddha near Diskit Monastery facing down the Shyok River towards Pakistan. The Diskit monastery is situated on the hill, just above the flood plains of the Shyok River, on its right bank in the Diskit village (3,144 metres (10,315 ft)) in Nubra Valley. The statue's construction was started in April 2006 and it was consecrated by H.H. the Dalai Lama on 25 July 2010. It is really wonderful statue.

A beautiful shot here by you of this stunning Maitreya Buddha statue. The scene is quite extraordinary and I really like the way you photographed the statue off to the side a bit. It's really quite amazing...and the colors so vibrant and rich. And the sky really adds to the whole effect here, too. Really very nicely done by you!

Hi Swapan,

Truly wonderful picture, Buddha with the sky as background, and no roof. Meaning which gaining eternity is an endless process, and the same holds good for achievement. Nicely captured colors of the statue, clouded sky and the hillock nearby. TFS

very nice idea to use this lower pov to contrast the image with the sky. I liked the colors and details of this marvelous sculpture. beautiful and well done your compo. TFS.

Hello Swapan,
It does look most impressive Budha statue, and a huge built - but most attention draws the multi-colors painted upon.
I am sure that taking a close range photo, is not an easy task, there is almost no element to scale its height or width against the mountains behind.
Yet, managed a fine clear picture of.
