Photographer's Note
Old man Ploughing Fields. This picture was shot in a village near Dinanagar-Punjab. This method of ploughing the fields is rarely used in punjab these days as Tractors have taken over the job. Still farmers with small fields and not much resources do practice manual ploughing. They start early morning( At around 3 am) and finish their job when sun starts to heat up atmosphere. In contrast to plaoughing by Tractors, only very skilled people can do manual ploughing, as it's difficult to direct your oxes in desired direction, manage their speed, get both of them in same tempo and avoide hitting their feet with "Phala"( metal part, sharp edged and followes ox's feet very closely). A site becoming more and more rare in punjab thses days.

I like this very much Manu - the subject is very interesting and I really like your choice of black and white. A bit overexposed in parts and it could possibly benefit from more contrast, but I like it a lot - well done.

Hi Manu! A very good presentation of a daily life activity! I can relate to your notes, as some folks here in the Phils. still do manual farming (I've posted some pics). I love how you framed and turned this into B&W. Another thing that caught my attention is the old man, it seems his body can no longer do the hard work, but he's proving us wrong! The contrasting colors of the cows, and the mist in the background, make the photo livelier! Great work! rgds.

Excellent composition and use of gradiant grey, your choice of the softness is very apropriate here, even I am not into B&W, I find this one of the better lately.

A very nice image Manu and an important document for the future - the countryside seems to be changing so quickly! I liked Claudes workshop but the atmosphere in your post says much too. Tha man's expression is delightful!
