Photographer's Note
Sadhus (Hindu Holy Men) march towards the Sangam (Confluence) of the three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythological Saraswati in Allahabad where the Kumbh Mela is being held these days.
A dip during the Kumbh Mela at the holy Sangam is widely believed as a sure way to wash off all sins. The most sacred of all Hindu festival, Kumbh (meaning pot) Mela (meaning fair) is expected to attract pilgrims exceeding 70 million over the next few weeks. Apart from the ritual bath, other activities include religious discussions, devotional singing, mass feeding of holy men/women and the poor, and religious assemblies where doctrines are debated and standardized. However holy men and devotees are not the only ones thronging the fair ground. More than 10,000 police and para-military personnel have been deployed, to thwart any untoward incidence. You can catch a glimpse of them in this image as well.

Hi Sabyasachi - well, they look like "real" sadhus, not like those that pose for tourist, I like the orange tones scattered in their clothes, and the natural compo as they walk - with "regular" people on the right, tfs, Daniel

Very interesting shot and accompanying note. The vivid orange of the Sadhus' clothing draws our attention to them, yet you have left enough space in the frame for us to have a view of the surroundings.

Wow...what a contrast...the group of sadhus and the paramilitaries...both protectors of us, the lesser beings...one spiritual protector other material protector...excellent thematic presentation.
Technically, of the little that I can understand...lovely clarity, beautiful PoV (they will soon walk over me...), beautiful details with that aperture of yours.

Best,

Welldone. Great that you have been to the Kumbh Mela. Lucky!

Hi Sabyasachi,
I love this photo for its realism; the religious fervor of the men and restrained implication of force from the watching police. The contrast is a strong point of this composition; of course the wonderful detail and color make the idea strongly real.

Dear Sabyasachi
I’ll jump to your second Kumbh Mela shot..it gives me the feeling of the things to come..an intro shot to one of the largest religious festival in India. It seems you crouched low to take this shot, from a low POV. Love the variety of the sadhus’ dresses & the definitive movement with strong strides. Well taken & composed shot

This made me smile Sabyasachi, because I have a very similar capture from Haridwar (or Hardwar, I'm not sure), with 'orange clothes' walking along the river, but instead of Sadhus, I think they were pelgrimages. Excellent shot of the group. You seem to be in a lower pov which is interesting. The shorter guy in the middle is having a reaction (bad or good, I can't figur out...) while the others are smiling, so I guess that everything ended well ;-)
Best wishes,
Ricardo

Hi Sabyasachi,
such a nice and colourful shot of these Hindu men. I wonder about the different expressions. The second from the left side looks quite angry like ready to fight. But the two guys on the right look so nice with their gentle smile. So maybe the other one is just joking.
Nice shot,

Different from those we know from you, this one tells a story, and looks more journalistic, I enjoy these walking Holy Men,and it looks also if there's a lot of photography during these days, if I happened to visit the area . Friendly regards- Izzet
