Photographer's Note

hi,

i am making history, believe me!!! the picture you are viewing is of a temple in thaligram village, silchar, assam. it is known as "siama bari". a temple dedicated to goddess Kali.

i say, i am making history, because i believe that i am the first individual to bring this temple in the sight of many people around the world and even LOCALITES.

as an age old tradition, NO WOMEN are allowed to go to this temple. not a single women in the village or its surrounding towns has gone or EVEN SEEN this temple. it was only in my camera that many women saw this temple for the first time in their life. i feel pity for those women, who has left this world without seeing the picture of this temple.

the temple is quite old, people dont remember since when it is in existence. it was in a very shabby condition untill recently when it was renovated. the temple is situated on top of a hill amidst thick forest where sacrifices of goats are done ocassionally to satisfy goddess Kali (you can see the top of a little wooden structure on the bottom middle of the picture where the sacrifices are being made).

earlier the temple was visited by wild animals and people used to visit in groups. the visit of the wild animals still exists but it has lessened over the years.

not a single soul was there when i visited the place with my cousin and took the shot. the person sitting on the stairs is of insignificance...

some adventure...
