Photographer's Note

The Lama dance in New Ralong Monastary went on for hours.
I was trying to decipher meanings of the dance as it definitely had a repetitive pattern in it.
The lamas were repeating a cycle or maybe enacting a sequence. There were several moves and acts one of which included a monk holding a post or something about 2mts high wrapped in a green cloth, and one of the dancers would come to him and dance in a certain way. After a while the monk would take away the post and the monks would continue their dance and eventually this scene would happen again.
And the most beautiful part is that everybody was doing the same moves at the same time in perfect harmony !
I never understood the actual meaning of the dance.
Maybe someone from TE can come to my rescue !!
