Photographer's Note
Flour mills and electricals, an unusual combination, but in India anything can be expected.
This photo from 1987 was taken in Hyderabad, nowadays one of the hubs of the blooming Indian IT-industry (with a part of the city more or less officially known as Cyberabad). I wouldn't be at all surprised if this little enterprise has now developed into Golden flour mills and software.
Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hi Gert. Your last comment is a beauty. Not sure where the electricals are but the flour is everywhere, surprised it didn't land on your lens.a homely, down to earth image of life as is. Regards. Klaudio.

Hej Gert,
You visited Hyderabad when the city hadn't seen a jungle of copper and optic fiber under it soil. Its truly is a unique combination; in the modern corporate lingo 'diversification'. Great picture with an impressive scan.
Thanks for sharing

Hej Gert,
Seeing this is one of yours, I had to check the date to see if it really was a scan. Excellent quality. I love this kind of 'man at work' shot, so-called 'environmental portraits', or whatever you name this type of picture. Strong colours, especially the blues, and a good subject. Wonderful post.

Hej Gert,
This is really a very good picture, in most ways. A good business idea for this man also. But colours and composition are outstanding. One of your best "oldies".

Hi Gert, I liked these old scales - they still use them everywhere. I made a lot of photos of them. Nice picture, one can see that it was made somewhere south - where urdu is spoken. Haha, it is written Golden in Arabic letters :)). Great shot. fantastic quality despite the age.

hi gert
a live shot, well framed. I like the blue hues which enhance the white clothes of the person at work.
Question: how do you manage to get such a sharpness with a slide scan?
Thnk you for sharing

Hi Gert,
Another classic, back in time when life was even harder back than. I actually like the rough edge of the old scan, it make it looks vintage and more nostalgic. Great daily life image. You have seen so much, it must be even more difficult to travel back then than today. Thanks for sharing this oldies.

Hello Gert. A photo from the world of work. The man is busy with his utensils. From today's perspective, everything looks a little antiquated. But India is an emerging country with a large potential. Your photo pleases me very well. It has documentary value. The scan is absolutely outstanding. Regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Gert
Another of your masterpieces from the past - there seems to be no end to the supply in your wardrobe. The scales, weights and bucket are all from the past. I wonder what stands in this position today. Very informative. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Gert, I have learnt from you photos & notes that in this part on the world these type of combinations may appear somewhat strange to us but are quite normal, I see his phone number, I wonder if he has some bargain priced electronics for sale. Nice shot with good colour & detail, another excellent scan.
Thanks

Hello Gert,
This is an interesting photograph, so it's impressive surprised a little to see the the contradictory store of dealing with flour and electricity. It's impressive that the storekeeper's cleaning the stand with the brush and balance at right side as well as the signboard written in English and Hindu language, too.
Well captured and good color combination.
Kind regards,
mikio

Hi Gert
I love the colors collaboration on how yellow and white extremely stand out making this looks striking and nice compo with a more definite flow of the eye through the pic. This is particularly descriptive, a charming old time rustic scene which does encapsulate local life, full of interest in particular the shop signage with the shopkeeper pops out and puts this totally into perspective. The clarity is good and your direct pov even enhances its feel when taken with a contextual surrounding, I love the subtle shadows, there's so much depth behind. It is wonderful exploring all different possibilities like this seen through your keen eyes. Great, Congrats
Warm regards

Hi Gert,
This one caught my eye on your intro page. I just love the whole feeling to the shot and especially the mixture of flour and electrics :-), something unique. Wonderful lighting situation and I like that the man is busy at work and does not seem to notice you in this nice environmental daily life image.

Hello Gert,
this scene is intriguing and attractive. Your note makes the projection of modern IT city images so compelling. Under the influence of your note, everything in this scene looks precious and fascinating: the rustic textures and colours, the naïve graphism of the sign, the calm eagerness of the miller, the historic interest of his equipment. I love the quiet atmosphere and the highlights. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

looks like a medieval scene, but the signs put us in the 20th century.very special flagrant, I liked the plasticity of the scenery and the personage involved in his job. perfect.
I remember my neighbor who was a tailor, when his profession became poor he created a store and he ended his days fixing old electronics.. I guess it was the same with the shop you posted.
take care
