Ceremony of offering rice grains as oblations into the fire - offering in this Homa (Fire sacrifice) made to Lord Shiva.
Same ceremony can be made as an offering to Vishnu or any of the numerous Demigods as Durga, etc. (that is designated by the mantra chanted while offering is performed).
