Pondicherry is a seaside town, but that doesn’t make it a beach destination; the city’s sand is a thin strip of dirty brown that slurps into a seawall of jagged rocks. But Goubert avenue (Beach road) is a killer stroll, especially at dawn and dusk when half the town takes a romantic wander. In a stroke of genius, authorities have banned traffic here from 6pm to 7.30am. Mahatma Gandhi statue is located in the far bg. Alcoholic beverages (beer, brandy, whisky, vodka etc) are cheaper here because some taxes like VAT aren't applicable in Union Territories for certain goods. Source : https://www.lonelyplanet.com/

A great view down the long and straight coastline. The composition is well-balanced between the vast ocean and the path and rocks along the shore. Good light and clarity too.

Hola Miguel Ce n'est sûrement pas une plage pour baigneurs à cause de cette protection contre les vagues! Perspective magnifique qui attire la vue vers le large paisible, loin de cette zone d'accidents.

Hello Miguel,
I was in Pondicherry but I don't remember this street, even though it was only 46 years ago. It is a nice deep view along the rocky shoreline towards the Gandhi monument, and the colours and light are very good. I remember Pondi as rather boring, and I only went there to see nearby Auroville, which I found even more boring.

I presume the erosion of the sea was devouring the sands and they put these stones here. nice view of the sea breaking and the urban area at side.

Artificial long dike to protect the promenade from ocean storm, as rising world tempratures would threaten coastal-cities and towns, this is a "must built" structure, Miguel.

For sure the Esplanade is not the prettiest with the lack of Sandy Beaches but the walk to the Pier and Mahatma Gandhi statue would appear to be interesting. Good sharpness, and a pity to see so much rubbish thrown away to the left. Thanks for sharing.
