Photographer's Note

The Rice harvest in Goa begins around October.

Harvesting should be done at the proper stage when plants are green to avoid grain shedding. This generally occurs 15-30 days after flowering in the early and medium varieties and 15-40 days in case of long duration varieties.

Hello Marilyn - A lovely shot, I only saw the previous rice harvest one now as I was away when you posted it (that one is very good but let me comment on this one) The golden colours are super and I am pleased you included the strip of deep green in the BG as it adds good contrast and balance to the shot. The birds are great too and I imagine that it is important to harvest quickly before they strip the plants. They do look quite determined to have their fill! Hi Marilyn,
Beautiful shades of diffent colours through the field here. The harvesting man is well placed in the picture and the birds add an extra interest to the scene, and a little touch of menace.

Looks like the crows are helping (not in a good way) this poor farmer harvest his crop. Good documentation of the daily life with good details and wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

A good daily life scene from Goa. I usually only see uploads of beaches, so this is a nice change. Excellent sharpness & well framed. Love the motion blurred wings of the blackbirds. Bon weekend!

Un fils de la Terre qui y semble enraciné parmi ces pousses mûres aux teintes si bien assorties, localisé dans une zone d'intérêt photographique et auréolé de ces corbeaux avides de grains tombés; que demander de plus pour un tableau attrayant!
