Hello Dear friends,

This is a view of Darjeeling Himalayan Toy Train. It is also known as the 'Toy Train' is a 2 ft narrow-gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal, India. Its elevation level varies from about 100 meter at New Jalpaiguri to about 2,200 meter at Darjeeling.

This is my first post of Darjeeling. On the way to Ghoom station, it is highest altitude of this railway I took a shot when this steam locomotive were crossing this elevated curved track. I visited there in the month of April, 2015.

Hello Swapan,
Fabulous composition with the train puffing through the hilly terrain.
Smoke and mist gave a mysterious texture to the surrounding, but the green prevailed and allow a wonderful sight on the way to Darjeeling which by itself know for its amazing sceneries.

Hello Swapan,

Aha! I have been on that train to Daj. My advice in winter would be to get a jeep up, and the train down to Siliguri Junction. My jeep skidded on the early morning frost and almost had a head on with another vehicle. As an aside, at first after stopping, they (both drivers) were yelling and swearing, then threatening to hit each other, then negotiating then parting with hugging & apologizing. Road rage Indian style! With a happy ending. Lots of smaller interesting hill towns to see on the 8 hour trip up the mountain. Tfs!

Wha a nice photo of the "toy train" on its way through the green areas downhill from Darjeeling. I was fortunate to meet this train along the road to Siliguri, but unfortunately I didn't have time to travel with it. Luckily I made a journey with a similar train to Ooty in the south. This photo has a nice and well chosen horizontal shape and a fine balance.

I've heard a lot of the 'Toy Train' but I haven't seen pictures of it.
This one doesn't really look that old.
The altitude difference the train spans, is unimaginable.
What a lush green surroundings!

Hello Swapan, How charming this toy train from Darjeeling. Lovely blue small wagons and locomotive. And this puff of smoke. Must have bin fun to go by it. I went by another old toy train - in Ooty.

Oh, this is great!
I recently watched a film on TV and I'm sure it was this train which was originally built for the tea trade.
You have achieved a lovely sense of movement as the train curves across the frame, the smoke trailing behind.

Hi Swapan,

The length of the train is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the train and of the trees. I like the effect of the steam below the train at the track level. Have a nice day.
