Photographer's Note
Well, its about time. Time for my 100th photo from India - this should have been done a while ago, but life gets in the way I guess.
It took a lot of second guesses while going through my laptop, trying to find a 100th pic, in the end I went with the Taj Mahal...why not right?
I always make sure I get the classic Post Card views. But what truly inspires me and gets my creative juices flowing is trying to get new angles and views from popular locations. I could have saturated the blues and reds, but I wanted to keep it as natural as possible. Hope you like it.
In the WS is one of my favorite shots, but I didn't post it because of the camera distortions. take a look if you like.

Hi Craig,in fact the photo in the WS is spectacular, we all had problems with the distortion, I remember the same problem with the square in Samarkand. For me it remains a great photo, while sometimes I have seen some really unwatchable corrections in PP of the perspective. Very original cut photo to celebrate your 100th Indian post, an excellent idea to better display the details. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Craig!
I think this photo is a good choice for 100th from India.I was there many years ago, non digital and loved it walking around viewing so many fine details, like at your good shot.It is good to see some people to have an idea how big this fantastic building is.
The ws photo is good too.

Hello Craig,
So you finally made it to #100 from India. (I posted my #200 + another 2 last month.) I appreciate that you picked this one for the main upload. The WS is amazing, but I really prefer this one. It's straight and decent and very neatly cropped and framed. It's also a perfect exposure of a lot of white marble and darker figures on a very sunny day. The two ladies do their usual duty of adding colours, and the brown building in the background does the same.
Thanks for your comments earlier. It was nice to see you back again.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Hello Craig,
I feared you had disappeared just before your 100th Indian photo on TE ...
In my personal opinion, the distortions on your picture in the WS are quite acceptable.
Your main photo shows some of the details of the magnificent Taj Mahal in an excellent way. Moreover, I like the inclusion of the people spread over the foreground. Some are traditionally dressed, others modern dressed.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Craig,
There are one or two classic views of the Taj Mahal that have become cliched through overuse, but you still want your own version. This view is refreshing in that it only gives us half the building. The portrait format helps give an idea of how high the building is, with people for scale. The colourful clothes of the women, and the red building in the back, provide a bit of colour in an otherwise very white and blue photo.

Hi Craig,,
The lady with the pink clothing is an eyes-catcher. The point of view is showing the details of this section of the Taj Mahal. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
Good to see you posting again.
I'm sure you find it difficult now, with Covid infections and, more importantly, a wife and young son to grab your time.
I like this photograph very much, more than your w/s. The unsymmetrical composition, along with the exquisite details of decoration really appeal.
Also, the shadow details seem to bring out an excellent 3D effect.
The figures add scale but they also create a very relaxed atmosphere.
I also corrected the lens distortion on your w/s. I preferred it with just a slight inclination but it wasn't very different from Clodo's so I didn't post it.
Have a good day and keep safe, Bev :-)

Hi Craig,
This palace is always beautiful seen and photographed from any angle. I liked the prominence of the side with the two towers and the people in the adjacent patio. I understood your taste for the leaning towers because for me they are almost two arms supported. Beautiful work.
Best Regards

Hello Craig
Fine, crisp shot, well worthy of your 100th post from India, and of course a vital location to visit. I like what you like about it: an unusual view of a familiar place (familiar even though I've never been there), and the natural, not too-saturated colours. Morning light maybe?

Hello Craig, good to view you here once again.
You only need to show us one part of the Taj Mahal for us to know exactly where you were.
It is a beautiful close view of the magnificent building.
Just a few people in the foreground to help to emphasise the size of the building.
The bright light is superbly managed.
I like the w/s shot but this one is very special.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Craig,
The country's most famous landmark is an excellent choice for the 100th photo. Also only half of the building is enough the recognise it immediately. Excellent composition, clarity and sharpness. The people are also well included and indicate clearly the size of the place.

Hi Craig
Well done on the 100 Indian photos and a suitable one to celebrate with.
Your lens distortion corrections are good - some people land up with it looking worse than the original which I must say did need a bit of work and they look good in B&W too.
cheers

Bonjour, cher Craig,
Une façon très originale de présenter ce fameux édifice.
J'aime l'ambiance qui se dégage de la composition.
Quant aux photos présentées en bonus, j'ai apprécié les différentes propositions.

A fine shot to celebrate the occasion of no.100, Craig.
Classic, but not too. I'm amazed it looks so white...

Hello Craig,
You can't go wrong with more photos of the Taj Mahal. I like this partial view, with so many of the exquisite details visible, and just the right amount of people walking around. I hope things are not getting worse at the hospital where you work. The virus is spreading like wildfire down here. Thankfully NYC is not as bad as other cities, but the numbers are going up. Take care!

Hello Craig, I like the Workshop picture, even with distortions, here they are not especially disturbing. But I prefer this amazing sharp view of the white walls and towers. Nice to see just a few people. Congratulations on 100 photos from India! I am rather far from round numbers :). Best regrads MAlgo

Hi Craig,
Just like your previous one from Taj Maha, this is close enough to reveal wonderful small details on almost white surfaces. And all those people create strong sense of perspective.

Hi Craig
Better late than never, and congrats on your 100th from India. This shot emphasises the huge size of the iconic Taj Mahal, definitely on my bucket list in a post Covid-19 world. Tfs!

One of the most iconic sights of India, indeed truly suitable to celebrate your 100th upload from the country. I agree that the colours are vibrant enough and no photoshop magic is necessary. Lucky you got two ladies in hot pink/red in the foreground. There is no shortage of this colour on the Indian peninsula but they seem to be everywhere but in front of my camera when I'm taking photos!
I LOVE the WS shot. You should post another main upload with it. The real problem with straightening this kind of distortion is that you can get the minarets straight but their tops look like the roofs are about to collapse. Better to keep it simple with converging verticals. It's all part of the creative art of photography. The colour and the tones is what really counts in this one, verticals or no verticals.
