Worried Old Man, a photo from Chhattisgarh, Centre

Photographer's Note

Chhattisgarh (an Indian state) is called 'Dhaan ka katora' or 'Bowl of rice' and was, until recent times, India's primary producer of rice. Farmers, here, depend mainly on monsoon for irrigation, use age old methods of farming and are, generally, unaware of the agricultural advancements. Almost a decade long drought has worsened the situation.

This guy was coming out of his fields - worried, lost in his thoughts, praying to god for help; when I made this image. The click of my camera brought back his smile. We chatted for a while and he told me that he loves being photographed. When he saw himself in my camera's LCD screen, he virtually forgot all his worries. He was a happy man again.

Nidhi, this one is a very nice portrait. great DOF and sharpness, the image has perfect light and colors to go with it. I wish you could have had a larger image, with larger file size too.

based on his structure, th eman should have been muscular when he was young. His expression is mixed with worries and serious thoughts. Great picture. Could you use all 800 by 600 resolution Nidhi?
