Photographer's Note
Mumbai (06:00PM).
We meant to go to Bandra area to meet some other friends. We bought a 1st class ticket to avoid the crowd at this time of the day ... The 1st class coach is still busy ... relatively for western eyes ;o).
A knee shot ;o).
Thanks, Alain -
Ps: later for the exif.

Hi Alain,
We are almost neighbours today. Such a beautiful b/w. May I ask which method you use? Its really crisp..although its so dark, I can see so much detail - I have noticed this with many of your other photographs too. I can also see a very subtle grain, which is nice.
Very nice atmosphere - very stylish and moody.

Salut Alain, elle est un peu confuse celle-ci, j'ai de la peine à m'y retrouver, il y a bien les jeux d'ombres mais je ne trouve pas une accroche pour mon oeil...

Hi Alain.
Interesting and very attractive picture. The picture gives to us exactly the feeling what needs the photo.
So people in a so little place, so stories, so... then the black and white becomes necessary.
And what say about the light and that shadows?
Very good work.

Hello Alain,
Train haah :) I am still trying to understand the POV you took for this....and really this is such a complex composition...The light and shadow and the B/W conversion. You are still lucky to get this one in the 1st Class...in general compartment there is no space for standing :) Man...I am loving your pictures.

TREMENDOUS shot, Alain. I love the graphic possibilities that your eagle eyes have immediately spotted so well, so fast. Exquisite b/w, a very strong and graphic work

Bit abstract yet quite revealing of the condition...photojournalistic.

I've recently been becoming more aware of sunshine designs- they're everywhere. I'm glad to see you utilizing one so wonderfully. The bars look great crisscrossing over everyone. I obviously have very western eyes because I saw this and thought "Whoa- that's packed!" It's a great shot.

(Ps- I'm missing too many of your photos- so I'm going to have to put you in my favs :)

Bonjour Alain,

I was searching photos of mumbai after I heard of serial blasts today.Unfortunately Ist class compartments were targetted and bandra station was one of affected.
This photo you have shown crowded compartment.B/W is good choice for this photo

Oh, this is wonderful. This is a picture of "my" trains in Bombay, my hometown. The shadows of the bars are so familiar, I've seen them and noticed them a million times, yet they do something new in your photograph. Black and white is a great choice of medium for this.
