Photographer's Note
This photograph was taken at Jhalong during our tour to Dooars. The word Dooars means the “Door”. The name may be given Dooars as it is the entry point or the door to enter Bhutan. Situated at the foothill of eastern Himalayas Dooras is well known for its tremendous natural Beauty. The whole Region is rich with lush green tea gardens and the flowing river like Jaldhaka, Torsha, Sankosh, Dyna, Karatowa make the land fertile enough. You do not found the tribal Toto anywhere in the world except at Totopara in Dooars. Besides there found tribal people like Rabha, Koch and rajbongshis in this region.
About Jhalong: Jhalong is 99 km away from Siliguri. Jhalong lies at the foothills of the Himalayas, on the way to Bindu in Kalimpong sub-division.It is situated on the bank of the river Jaldhaka on the Indo-Bhutan border.
Jaldhaka Hydro electricity project on the Jaldhaka River is a major attraction. The large reservoir is the playground of a varied collection of hill birds as well as migratory water fouls.

Hi Partha,
Nice to see a post of Jhalong through your lense.I had been in Jhalong and I so much liked the place that I visited there twice in span of four months. Now Im planning to spend few nights there.I have seen many young boys out there-but unfortunately didn't managed to shoot enough. The only exception you can find in my gallery in the image "Boy from Bindu" shoot just outside of Hydel project.Where actually u shoot those boys?Outside Hydel project area?
Coming to the snap,it is nice, but little much brighter than my liking and I also feel that it lacks enough contrast. But it brings with it the fresh essence of the beautiful place-Jhalong.

Dhurjati

Hi Partha,
These hilly kids are such a joy to photograph with their spontaneous smile. I like the way you have used the distance between them.
Best Wishes
