Photographer's Note

Early morning at Prayag, the confluence of the three holy rivers of India - Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. According to Hindu belief, a dip here during the auspicious Kumbh Mela is a sure way to wash off all earthly sins. It is all about belief and it seems this woman who has just taken a bath at the confluence sure believes in it. The look of sheer happiness, fulfillness ....perhaps blissfulness is the word I was searching for, touched my soul as I looked through the viewfinder.

God is all Bliss.

God wants me to think
Of only one thing:
Bliss, abundant bliss,
Infinite bliss -
And forget the rest

A life of aspiration
Is a life of bliss.

To make oneself
Every day
An object of total dedication
And surrender

Of bliss.

The quality of the light is wonderful and I like the position of the lady in the frame. The bright object (boat?) in the background is a problem as it is a real distraction. A position further to the right to hide it behind the woman's head, or to the left to seperate it from her face would have been better.

This is a nice piece in great light, really capturing the emotion of her expression. i do agree with Keith--the orange blob would look better in the left side of the frame separate from her face, just a step or two to the left would have helped.
