KUARI PASS-Last view of snowcapped peaks, a photo from Uttarakhand, Nord

Photographer's Note

This is finally the Kuari pass. We are at the edge of two cliffs, on the backbone of the mountain: in this direction we have the view to the snowcapped Himalayas, while to my back a steep path starts, leading us into a diferent landscape. While having a snack, the trekers enjoy the higher peaks for the last time.

This is the Curzon Trail, in Garhwal Himalayas, at the Nanda Devi National Park, one of the highest parks in the world and where some of the most fascinating peaks abound. From here, it can be seen Nanda Devi (7,816 mtrs.), Dunagiri (7,066 mtrs) Bethartoli (6,352 mtrs), Maiktoli (6303 Mts), Mrigthuni (6565mts), Devasthan among others. I don't know to point them out and if those are seen in this picture, but I thank Sabyasachi, for this information.

Splendid scenery and I like how the resting hikers are right in the foreground and accentuate the immensity and wildness of the place. Lots of depth too.

Olá Ricardo. Your ongoing reporting about this trek has been an interesting and scenically rewarding experience. This is a beautifully composed photo, with the two people enjoying a well-earned rest and contemplating a deep view into the valley. Beautiful to see the grand range of mountains in the distant background. Very nice range of natural colors and textures.

The fact that these two people are enjoying the view invites us to follow the direction of their gaze, and I like how they are sitting in line with the direction of the valley floor.
An effective composition.
I also like the great range of textures and colours in the landscape, and the light is good.

Epá ó Ricardo, importas-te de nos dar um pouco de descanso desta vista? Assim não dá... mesmo que uma pessoa não te queira invejar a viagem tu tmabém não facilitas nada. Não podias por uma foto de cidade para variar? Mais uma vez a exposição está perfeita. Dizias que ia ver muitos céus queimados mas olha que estas últimas têm estado muito boas. Que inveja...

Interesting pictures, I saw the rest and the workshops, I like this, maybe if you hold the hand of your wife will make a better picture, maybe for San Valentines day could be perfect, but I likew this.
In the begining I tougth this persons are distractic, but latter when i strat to study I like it, because you can see the magnitud of this places, and looks a nice composition.
I like too the color fo this grass in this canyon, the comstants changings to reach the highest point and the wonderful snow pick with the and of this sky.
Amazing picture.

I envy the trekers perched up there, Himalayas, specially Garhwal Himalayas is very close to my heart. ANd to get this view from the Kuari Top, its worth the trek. Love the way yo have composed this signifying this is indded a high altitude pass with the valley running down the opposite side.

Se é assim bonito nesta altura do ano imagina quando a erva estiter toda verde e houver flores nos campos. Então, diria que ainda iamos ter muitas mais fotos dos Himalaias! A propósito, quantas fotos tiráste no total?

Another great shot Ricardo. I keep thinking you have posted the best one yet and the next is even better. As you know I like to see people looking at the view I can see and they couldn't be better placed in the frame as they sit at each side of the deep valley.
The texture on the nearer mountains is like velvet and so well captured with beautiful shadows and highlights. They are also providing a perfect frame for the distant snow-capped peaks. Another excellent shot for your collection.

This is beautiful Ricardo. There appears to be three mountain layers - snow-covered, arid, and with grasses. Colors of the mountain layers are very true and appealing, and of course the two dudes enjoying the view provide added intersting element in the frame. Excellent work. Danilo

it is amazing how even in pictures, these mountains create such an imposing landscape. The sheer weight of their enormity is overwhelming. Great framing job. The "V" of the hills add nice balance to the "V"'s of the mountains...no other way of explaining what I'm trying to get at.

If I remeber you are treking at the Yeti's place and this guides are inspecting the hill to see if HE is there !...
Well, I like the composition, its well build with the three floors, your place the hills and the high mountains. Colors are good for this beautiful place.

( Would have been stronger (but its good) if you bent your knees and take a lower POV, but I understand that at this stage of the trek you are not in the situation to move your articulations :-))

Pour mon goût, voyager c'est faire à la fois un mètre ou deux, s'arrêter et regarder de nouveau un nouvel aspect des mêmes choses. Souvent, aller s'asseoir un peu à droite ou à gauche, cela change tout, et bien mieux que si je fais cent kilomètres !

Perhaps the most dramatic of the fine photos in this mini series. I love the rich and varied hues and tones leading layer upon layer toward the awesome peaks. The clarity of detail is superb, and the two trekkers really warm, enhance and anchor the scene. First rate work, Ricardo. Congrats on this one.

It is definitely very pretty ... I have been here in the rainy season only ... when the valley was lush green and there were clouds here and there (I was never able to see the high peaks from here) ... but the trek was good nevertheless.

Nice way of representing the mountain view.I like the 3D view, the wonderful colour tone of the mountainscape, the inclusion of the persond at the foreground is a good idea.
We have also completed the Balipass/Yumunotri pass in june 2004 and that was a great experience.

des montagnes qui n'ont rien à envier à nos alpes, n'oublions pas que nous sommes proches là-bas du toit du monde.
Une vue impressionnante, ces sommets qui se trouvent à des dizaines de kilomètres et qui ont l'air bien plus proches. J'ai vécu cette impression en Suisse.
J'aime la variation des couleurs entre les plans de montagnes.

bem feito os personagens no primeiro plano, o vale se abrindo e as sucessivas camadas de montanhas até as mais altas e misteriosas ao fundo. me faz lembrar dos cumes andinos mais ao norte. A montanha mais alta que vi foi o huascaran no peru com quase 7 mil de altura.
