The steep descent, a photo from Uttarakhand, Nord

Photographer's Note

Back to the treking in the Himalayas.
After enjoying the amazing sight on the edge of the cliff we had to make the long steep descend, before entering the forest, crossing over the river and eating a quick snack to get the energy for the long ascent.
Sometimes these long descents can be very painful, especially in the toes and knees.
This is the 3th day of 5 of the Curzon Trail, in Garhwal Himalayas, at the Nanda Devi National Park.

A nice trekking shot, Ricardo. The framing is simple but totally appropriate to tell the story, with the hiker making his downward way along the trail. The variety of lush green vegetation brings a vivid touch to the photo, and the steepness of the slopes in the back is well illustrated. Nice capture.

Olá Ricardo,
what impresses me here is the great perspective impact of going DOWN. The slope on the other side is more falling than anything else. Good colours and great DOF.
A crop? Because of the focal length.

Still more photos from the India.
I like this kind of photos because show to us a different world from a different point of view. We take part of this long walk and we feel as another traveler walking by these lost tracks.

good one, where the mount on the back have a great impact on the whole composition, with 2 different level.
the guy going down on the foreground and the mount pointing to the sky on the back.

You had some good walks it seems! Here a nice view showing the nature and steepness of these areas where no cars go... but where many people live, far from everything.... nice shades of greens, well places walker and path... job well done!

You could say that again about the descent, it sure takes its toll. Having trekked in the Himalayas I would anyday prefer going up a steep ascent than going down a descent. Nice capture of the hilly surroundings.

Mais verde! :) Se não fosse a presença daquela alma ali no início do caminho dava-te das boas! ;) A profundidade de campo parece um bocado compactada. Parece que há pouco distância entre o caminho e a encosta lá por trás. Gosto da luz sobre os verdes da encosta.

Very well composed with Ana on one of the "magic spots", making it satisfying to look at. The steepness of the mountain to her left gives us a good idea of the terrain and the strain it will be on your joints. :)

Great shot. That steep mountain somehow made me in first sight a bit puzzled about rotation, I think the trees caused this in a way, but the inclusion of the person could take away this feeling (maybe also just because I'm not so used to see mountains being a Dutchman ;-)). It's a very cleverly composed picture. The path with the person have a great placement in the foreground. I also enjoy the many greenish tones of the shot. Good work, thanks for sharing.

great trekking foto with that steep descent less tiring than ascending i must say. DOF is perfect and so with the POV. the hills and vegetation are clearly focused and endorsed..

Hi Ricardo,

A treking in this marvellous landscape of greenery should not be unpleasant. A point of view where the reliefs well are felt. I like very much the management of the light which gives pretty tone greens. A very beautiful photograph. Indeed the descents are always more tiring that the rises.

Yes descents are definitely more painful than climbing up...anyday. You've framed your wilful assistant well in this frame as she moves down the slope. Love the plants on the left...I love the BG where the steep slope climbs up, with the path roughly in the centre. A pleasing composition my friend
