Photographer's Note
Kurashiki, Western Honshu.
ever been in a country where you don't understand a word of what's being said, you stare at things with your eyes wide open and feel a bit like a fool using hands and feet to make yourself understood..? well, here I am, feeling exactly like that... :)
I am having a great time here in Japan and people are really fantastic, especially kids. I might probably survive also on my own, but having a local guide can be of great help...
I am not sure how this picture looks, it's straight from the camera and just resized... just a quick jump on TE while I am still on the road.
a great weekend to everyone!

Hello Cristina,
What? No GPS? I thought Japan was a modern country!
Jokes aside, this looks surprisingly good under any circumstances. I wouldn't trust myself to upload a picture without a proper PP but this is very good. It's an amusing glimpse of daily life and the kids have really done their best to give you a good composition.
Personally, after six seven weeks in China my patience was wearing thin from never understanding anything, never knowing if I would get what I tried to order at the next visit to a restaurant.
Best wishes for the rest of the trip,
Gert

Cristina, your posting brought a smile on my face :). I'd love to hear/see more of your Japanese experience.
The picture doesn't look bad at all, the white a bit too strong maybe, but nothing serious to complain considering no pp.
My best wishes.

Hi Cristina
So you're lost. Speak as Italian people (you're italian, aren't you) with the hands! Look at the picture you have taken, the young girl speaks the same language, and her friends are carefully listening to her. Follow that guide, and come back safe!
Note: have you your blue dress and white cap?
Cheers

ciao Cristina.
Ebbene, questa è la tua prima foto dal JP. Ti sento un pò frustrata dall'impossibilità di comprendere e immergersi nella realtà. Questo è un pò il fascino di quel paese.
I bambini sono fra le cose più belle, educati, composti, gentili

Ciao Cristina. So there you are in one of my favourite countries. I had a gentle landing, having my friend Yoshi do all the talking when English was not possible. I don't know if I agree with your comments to Roberto- I found that the trip to Japan broke my idea of the stereotypical Oriental. I found the people funny, warm and demonstrative, without being "in your face" and loud,as many Westerners tend to be.I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and if you have the chance, please go to Nikko. As for the photo, it is a lovely moment showing cooperation and individual reactions. Interesante che si trova una ragazza chi e "the leader" naturale. Il ragazzo e un po perduto.Ma la realita e cosi nel tutto il mondo ordinario. Regards. Klaudio.

A very attractive 'decisive moment' image, Cristina. The capture of the girl - arm raised, head down and obscured - is perfect. Her companions also star in their devotion to her leadership. Nice depth too to the image.

Ciao Cristina,
Haha, I also had such experiences, seeing some buses, all in time exactly but which one should I get in when there is no number and all is written in kanji... But the Japanese are so friendly and helpful that there are no problems. Nice scene with the kids in uniforms, taking their lessons so serious.
WArm regards

I also was in Kurashiki and maybe we were somewhere in the same time.
