Photographer's Note

One of the characteristic institutions which the Japanese police is installing has a police box named " kōban" (Left photograph). It is placed at the base for which many persons, such as a station and shopping quarter, gather, and the police is needed. Usually, it is in charge of service by turns in 2-3 sets for 24 hours. A patrol, round connection, etc. of the area are performed, and also registration of residents' lost article is accepted, and it has replied to a traveler's guidance. The photograph of middle is a policewoman who is controlling traffic in an event site. A right-hand side photograph is policemen who are doing the check of a speeding offense or illegal parking in the main street.
