Photographer's Note

Don't say that this is nothing special. Children are always very special. But as a photo, well...

This is from Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos, in January 1973. I remember vaguely walking along one of the main streets when I saw these small girls outside their school, watching what was going on in the street. The nearest girl saw me taking a quick shot and looked straight at me, while her friend didn't notice a thing. Then a smile, a "bye bye" and that's it. Nothing more, nothing special.
