Photographer's Note

The charming town of Luang Prabang - the ancient royal capital of Laos and a UNESCO National Heritage Site, is surrounded by precipitous mountains at the junction of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. The town is famous for its elegant mix of traditional Laotian architecture and its distinctive French air and quaint small village atmosphere. Come dusk the main street in town - the Sisavangvong Street is closed from vehicle traffic as it becomes a ground for a night market which illuminates with a tranquil glow, notable for its romantic and magical appeal...

The night market is definitely a must cultural experience, each item bought goes directly to the sellers themselves since buying there would be helping the locals earn their living. Laos, once a forgotten land and land-locked is a country as yet untouched by the modern demands, stress and pace of life. Its beauty lies in the Lao people, centuries old traditions and heritage but now has put itself way up on the list of hot travel destinations in SEA.
