Photographer's Note

A decade ago cell phones were introduced in Laos, however upcountry the cell communication still is poor. In the border area often the strong and well established Thai cell network is being used despite the higher cost e.g. international instead of national charges. According to the statistic office of Laos, about 10 million people are using mobile phones in the country of just over 6 million people.

Another intriguing daily shot and useful infor notes, very cleverly captured candid and spot on framing with all attentions being paid to the gadget and the user, while the toddler will soon become the cell phone geeks generation. Nowadays it's hard to find people without that 'thing' to keep up with all this technology. It's part of life just about everyone has a mobile these days but they will soon be implanted from birth and wired to the brain! For me it sums up many folk today who are constantly glued to their iphones oblivious to their surroundings. This is sharp and technically well performed shot. and a great social comment. The mobile is ubiquitous everywhere you go these days. I like the expressions on the two faces and the tight farming. Good sharp image with excellent colours.

The policemen in Laos sound like those in Egypt and other similar countries.

1.67 cell phones per person? In our household, it's the reciprocal of that, 3/5. Interesting way to carry the cute little boy. I like the fact that you managed to get both people while they were not looking at you. Nicely done!
