Waiting for the Storm, a photo from Kedah, Ouest

Photographer's Note

It has been raining all week but there was a short break today. I took the opportunity to walk around the house and this view caught my attention. This picture was taken outside my house before the rain started to fall again. The distant hill in the background is Bukit Kepelu where early civilization in this area were being discovered in a cave named Buffalo Cave and gazetted as National Heritage since.

Il avait plu toute la semaine mais il y avait une coupure courte aujourd'hui. J'ai saisi l'occasion de marcher autour de la maison et cette vue a attrapé mon attention. Cette photo a été prise en dehors de ma maison avant la pluie commencée pour tomber encore. La colline éloignée dans le fond est Bukit Kepelu où la civilisation tôt dans ce secteur étaient découvertes dans une caverne appelée Buffalo Cave et gazetted en tant qu'héritage national depuis.

I always liked or prefer the kind of works where the photographer has a story in mind, and look for a scene or visual that depicts the story well. Instead of pictures looking for the stories to fit.

You know it's going to rain, it's getting darker and you wanted the kind of visual that not only depict the impending rain, but needing something to attract or add interest to the weather.

Bonjour Jusni, belles fleurs qui sont bien exposées et apportent la chaleur à un jour foncé et sombre. Il s'avère qu'il y avait en effet de pluie dans un proche avenir pour vous là ce jour ! Je pourrais ajouter que F-arrêtez environ de 8 ou 11 ont pu avoir fonctionné mieux ici car la colline éloignée serait exposée et mieux affilée. J'essaye toujours d'employer un arrêt de F de 16-22 sur ce type de photo avec mon appareil-photo de film, et essaye toujours de faire ceci avec mon numérique. La bonne image néanmoins et la grande note, votre introduction est pensée bonne dehors, un endroit pour la famille et les cravates est importante ! Steve Steve

this is a catchy mood you got here...I like it very much as well as you composition, the green and the yellow of the flowers stand out nicely against the dramatic sky. I agree with Steve on using longer focal lenses, F.stop 8 should be the minimum! in landscape...I mean if you want it all neat. Nice work.

Those in-focus flowers in the foreground, at a touching distance, make the viewer feel as if he/she was in there and not as an outsider viewer. Good shot.

You composed this shot beautifully and you have a very interesting juxtapositioning between the lovely flowers in the foreground, the rugged hills and the brooding, supersaturated storm clouds hovering overhead. Storms coming are always helpful as a dramatic background and all we need is to find a nice foreground to them. The flowers are beautiful and make a nice subject adding its yellow light, but the storm is really the most attractive here, and always, because it is impressive and make nice impact. Well done!

Now this is cool, yellow against murky grey clouds. The coolpix has done quite well, I can imagine how much better this would be with the D80 though, maybe you will go back there with the camera and see the difference. Well done

the pretty yellow floweer are the catcher. the dark clouds are the "attractiver" and the clear green grass on the ground are the one that give the mystery. To me it is a great binary interpretation of beauty. For every dark clouds there is a meaning to the unnoticed field of grasses. For every happening there is an unseen bounties of destiny.
