traditional malay housing, aired underneath to catch any breeze, and tiny. these ones have iron and thatched roofing, though many are thatched. the open windows along the right side area adjacent to where you sleep.

traditionally, there are no nails used in the construction. everything is grooved and slotted, so if desired, you can move the whole thing.

in this town, the malays tend to live in these huts, while the chinese hold the obviously richer river properties with fishing jetties. (photo coming)
