Photographer's Note

I continue my journey up the Rajang river in Sarawak state on Borneo in October 1976. Today three more simple glimpses of daily life in the jungle, all scanned from Kodachrome slides.

The main photo is from below a very small village, just two or three houses, where my boat stopped briefly to drop off a passenger or two. Maybe life was tough in such a remote place, but I thought it looked very idyllic, with the children swimming in the river just a stone's throw from their homes.

In a WS you can see a very lonely house in a clearing in the rain forest, another WS will show a close encounter with a local.
