Photographer's Note

I was with my mum and sister for evening walk here at Sibu Town Square taking advantage of good afternoon weather. Towards the end of our walk, the sky started to turn into warm colors. Just as we were driving off, I saw this view and stopped the car at side of road, took a few shots. When shooting against the sun, it is always a difficult decision to make to use either spot focus or pattern, and then where to point your focus. Focus on the sun will render the rest of view to give dark silhouette and losing details, whereas focus away from the sun tends to give overexposure around the sun, so a delicate compromise needs to be tried for your best result. You may need a tripod after 10 minutes of sun setting below horizon to avoid blur.

The bottom left, you can see my favorite 'dancing' trees being pitted against the brightest part of the sun as my attachment to its importance, while the buildings at bottom right showed a part of town. Sibu is relatively small place, but it is not difficult to find a good spot for sunset or sunrise because the land is flat and cited along a wide riverbank. Thank you for viewing.

The clouds are on fire! The sky is the billowing smoke!
This has the most fantastic colour tones and I really like how you have retained colour and reflection on the building.

An absolute paradise view you share here... The golden twilight is amazing with the sun .. The shadows played their part too and altogether came out with a superb effect!!!!! I also love the color combination in the photograph!! It is really delight seeing those heavenly clouds .. Keep posting.

This is a wonderful capture of the moment and I think the composition and light management is excellent. I believe your spot metering is way off from the sun which renders a good exposure to your FG buildings. However, doing this often ended up in the sun not in perfect focus(even at a high f/stops)and over-exposed. The result is a sun without a clear definition of its shape. The photo is also a little noisy, but given the situation your were in without a tripod, the result is really quite outstanding.

Hello Bill. I was wondering if this shot was taken abroad by looking at the architecture. The note and your favorite tree disclosed it all. Excellent shot in keeping the bleached area to the minimum. what a magnificient sunset! I like a lot the rich colours that look like melted amber, and how the tiny corner of blue sky reminds that this is still Earth, not some flaming Martian atmosphere. the buildings give a good sense of scale, but I particularly like how you have dealt with the sun - it's just where it needs to be and just as bright as it should be. perfect timing and excellent photo.

The sunset is giving nice colors to the sky and putting the rest of the photo in the shadow. The point of view is giving depth to the photo. The reflections in the windows are assets to the composition. Have a nice day.
