Photographer's Note

I really find the natural beauty of Kampung Sadir inside the tropical rainforest jungle to be unforgetable.

After Sunday church service, a group of Bidayuh villagers (Hoe & Evelyn among them) walking home to Kampung Sadir, which is exactly inside the thick green foilage behind the 3 wooden huts along the roadside. This village is located on foothill and the walk between houses are steeply taxing especially for elderly folks or pregnant ladies. But recent years, electricity and mountain water are provided. There is a school just below the church. Pastor William is at right.

At the church, smiling faces and friendly villagers are proud to have visitors. After the church service, many villagers invited us to their houses to celebrate Gawai. We managed to visit 2 houses before we trekked to waterfalls. Thank you for viewing.

Update After wolf38's critique about the title, Going Home meaning going back to the jungle and its natural habitat without spoiling its beauty.

Hi, Bill. The contrast between the clouds in the top of the image and the lush vegetation gives a lot of strength to your composition. The people going back home give us a good idea of the scale. Maybe I would not have included the leaves on the left side.

Hi Bill,

The point of view takes us toward the houses and to the tropical rain forest. The presence of people has aneffect of scale. The low cloud has a dramatic effect on the colors of the forest. the scenery is well frame. Have a nice day.

Excellent report. I find this photo so interesting, and reading your note I imagine how pleasant it must have been to be there and have the opportunity to share all this. About the photo, it's informative, the lush green trees and vegetation are amazing and above all this, the clouds/fog/mist make it even more interesting.

il a l'air de faire plutôt sec à l'avant plan, contraste avec cette luxuriante forêt derrière et aussi ce ciel bas, chargé d'humidité.

A good POV seemingly from an elevated spot to capture those tiny buildings and the people in a fine composition. I like the inclusion of the "wild boar". The low cloud/mist in the BG provides the shadow on the hill, well contrasted with the bright sunlit FG.

A village in a very nice setting. Nice open space in front for soccer ... I see a goal post there. Not bad for an isolated village to have electricity and water supply. Even more interesting is the standard issue garbage bins. Do they have proper garbage collection too? Regards. Latiff.

anyway this shot is very beautiful with three layers of colours, the foreground of very bright ground, the green forest nd lovely mist in the background.
Excellent display of balik kampung, real shot of real life.

There is something extraordinary, the contrast between all that lush wilderness in the BG and the bare emptiness in which the family is moving ; I like those scenes with people in front of the jungle, you live in a splendid country with plenty of opportunities to show us not only the beautiful white sand beaches with turquoise water, but also all the landmass inside, that is so interesting... Beautiful photo, compliments !

A very beautiful nature and daily life - picture. The light on the forest is very good and the brightness and colours of that green part of the picture are splendid specially under that thick fog and compared to the foreground. Good you've included some people for the feeling of depth.
