Monks, a procession you could see every day in the streets of Kalaw.

The buildings in Kalaw have a typical colonial style. The place was a former British health resort, located end of the 19th Century. Today there are about 26000 inhabitants in Kalaw, Shan, Chinese and Nepalese, Pakistanis and Indians.

Hi Achim,

The diagonal line of the street is giving depth to the composition. You have captured well the procession of the monks. The point of view is showing the details of their clothing. Have a nice day.

The black parasols add a touch of graphism to an already interesting scene. I like the oblique perspective and the lights and colours.

Une très belle procession. Une belle ligne en diagonale dans l'image et une belle utilisation des parapluies noirs.Une chance qu'ils ne marchent pas au pas car cela ferait bizarre.

Hello Achim,

They appear like stamped out figures, perfectly equidistant, almost synchronized. It reminds me of a mural showing ancient Egyptian painters of priests or workers. This is a genuinely eye catching photo.

The last three monks must do some penance. They have no protection against the sun.

Hello Achim,

This is an interesting picture of these monks walking along the streets, all in the same color robes, shoes and however, some do not have the umbrella. Perhaps they are not permitted or did not wish them. Unusual. I remember lots of monks in Thailand years ago. They were a pleasant group and there was always a spokesperson to address any questions you might have of them. Well done. I like the composition and lighting as well. Regards, Roger

Hello Achim,
you captured and framed this scene superbly. It is clearly a spontaneous and timely capture but the scene looks like a fine choreography, especially with the first three monks taking exactly the same step. I like how the elegant and myesterious figures stand out against the long, white wall and it is great that you obtained such a clear and delightful picture despite the challenging contrasts. The play of shadows is wonderful too. Congratulations and thank you!

Wonderful repetition of both the monks in their red robes and the black umbrellas there are all holding up. Good sharpness and the single file profiled shot is excellent. Good color, saturation and framing. Th diagonal angle adds dynamism. Tfs.

there is something extraordinary, something funny in this scene. I would have never guessed that the monks may be using black umbrellas. The last three though don't have them. Are they too young, less important?
Nice capture with a repeated motif which makes it really eye catching and raising the interest.

well seen this procession of the monks, I like how they use the umbrellas for to protect of the sun, except three of them.
The scene is very vital and dynamic, and the clothings provide a high chromatic power into the composition.
