Photographer's Note
Long time no see TE'ers!
I was in Nepal for the sixth time this past Spring and of all the flights into Kathmandu that I have taken this one was the most spectacular.
Lightning storms flashed, glittered and glowed below me on the Indian plain whilst the sun slowly painted the mighty Himalaya every hue that the dawn can possibly bring.
Through my steamy aeroplane window I was presented with this view of the Annpurna range. Annapurna South, Annapurna I (the first 8000m peak to be climbed, Annapurna II, III & IV, Hiunchuli and Macchapuchre.
Magic moments are made of sights such as these!
Apologies for the noise and lack of sharpness in this picture but it was very dark, handheld from a plane at 30,000ft, F5.6 and 1/40! Its already had noise reduction in RAW and been run though NeatImage, this is as good as I could get it!

Serwus Richard !
What a comeback !
Darker ambiance, delicate pinkish light of dawn plus the effect of vignette - all work for a stunning result here. Beautiful image.
Best wishes,

bonjour richard,
très belle vue du népal. J'aime la couleur rosée et l'ambiance douce qui se dégage de l'image.

Hi Richard,
A really great post, with an interesting almost fragile atmosphere. Being a plane shot, the quality is actually very good. I guess the vignetting comes from the planes platic windows.

Great low-key image panorama, the large version does suffer some blur but hey, there's only so much a plane window can do on a low-light condition ;)
Very inspiring colors nonetheless, superb POV.
