Photographer's Note

In Nepal, people die all the time of unknown causes. Illness strikes and you are dead in a few days perhaps, cremated and gone. My friends's nephew arrived at her house fine. In an hour, he looked like this. My friend was very upset. She ran out the door trying to find his parents. Soon he was covered with these itchy scaby looking spots. My friend got back, just as he started swelling up. They took him to the hospital in a rickshaw, and he was there a few days, very ill. Now years later, he is a handsome teenager. No one can tell me what he had. I left early the next morning for the USA, and was very worried, but all turned out fine! Every "eradicated" disease seems to be alive still in 3rd world countries. I thought the politician talking on tv, was so much part of the problem. The government made no effort to help the people with sanitation or meidcal care. Foreign countries provide more money to help Nepal, than any other country, I have read. But the money often is directed into pockets of politicians instead of the projects. I am still suffering since I had filthy tap water at the Tibet Guest House, and other hotels, and questionable medicines for my eyes .
