Photographer's Note
This is part of a series of pictures of my stay in Miarayon, Bukidnon, Mindanao with the Tala-andig people: Miarayon and the Tala-andig
* * *
This is a shot of the student parade held during the town festival early last month. It featured the pre-school students up to the highschool students.
Despite the availability of education in the area these days, not all parents take advantage of it. Some cite poverty and not being able to afford to lose the extra labour, others feel that (esp with girls who will be married off soon anyway) there's no real need for it.

This will be the last Mia shot I will be posting on a daily basis. I will still be adding pics to this theme, but it be less regularly. I feel that I have told the basics of the story of my stay and now it's time to start posting some different things.
I hope you enjoyed the theme, please stick around for what's next!

This is great, Alex, the poses of the two kids at the fence really suggest they'd like to be a part of the school crowd, that they're "on the outside looking in." It's sad that their future is so constrained.

Hi Alex,
A cute take...all the tenderness of childhood days are here. Good composition with the backs of the two little urchins climbing the fence and watching their bid bros and sis marching down the line. As such a complex scene always presents innumerable ways of framing, you have chosen a realy good angle in which the horizon is placed high, and the fence is prominent, while the marchers are placed between the fence bars...perhaps one of the more optimal placement choices. Good photo.

Good one Alex, I am really impressed with your colours as of late, myself I have been more interested in bw as of late so I haven't developed any "colour skills", time to pay more attention to it.
Very nice compo with the view from behind the fence, kids on the fence are superb, I live the contrast between the two with messy hair and clothing, and ever so neat kids walking on the road.
Good debth to the whole image. Wonder if anything in the lower left would make the image better, bowl or anything there, not sure.

Hay Alex. Very good perpective. Colors is exellent. I like your sky. Composition - (this two children) - and backgroud (parade) looks beautiful. I think is big thing cose many people on the parade but I didn't see any mess. good luck

It looks like there is some lens distortion here, but it really enhances the sense of perspective. Nice capture of an interesting moment in time. Very nice work, Alex!

Hello Alex. What an outstanding composition. Plus your sky is really working with the ground. The clouds in the sky almost parallel the ground. The note is a bit sad though. Nice shot though!

Excellent rural shot, Alex - very typical scene on how the remote areas here in our country look like. Very good POV. The bamboo fence and those 2 kids are really very interesting - one's wearing an oversized sandal, the other one's barefoot. Very nice clarity, colors and lighting! Your series is very informative and beautiful - you've captured well how some of our folks live in the rural areas. Congratulations! rgds.

Great perspective! Great compositioning as well, with the "heavier" kids in the foreground on the right and the denser crowd at the far end at the left.
On the other aspect, it's a really great slice of rural life in the Philippines. Very honest depiction of reality: a child's joy and curiosity, beyond the reach of the modern world's created needs.
