Photographer's Note

One of the smallest primates in the world, the Philippine tarsier is no bigger than a man's hand. In comparisson with its body size, its eyes are enormous (imagine men with eyes the size of a soccer ball). Like the owl, it can rotate its head up to a hundred and eighty degrees. It lives on trees and is nocturnal. Its diet includes mostly small insects such as bugs and crickets.

The Philippine tarsier was introduced to science in the 1700s . It is said to have lived 45 millions years ago, making it one of the oldest land mammals still existing in the country.
