Photographer's Note
This is part of a series of pictures of my stay in Miarayon, Bukidnon, Mindanao with the Tala-andig people: Miarayon and the Tala-andig
* * *
Here's an older shot from my days in Mia.
This elderly woman was coming home from a day of harvesting carrots. She had to starting working again to pay off a massive hospital debt when her husband and child fell ill and died.

Unrelated Note: I've been collecting my best photos into a Flickr account to use as an online portfolio (Thanks again Carolyn!) It's a work in progress and I'll be uploading batches regularly. If you want to give it a visit I'd appreciate your opinions (TE is a WAY better community when it comes to thoughtful critiques).

Nice portraiture Alex, with a good human interest story accompanying it.
You've captured this elderly womans face respectively, with good details throughout. The colors are interesting- almost as if slightly desaturated?
Cheers buddy,

Very good material and good composition. The eyes are just too dark with no details.

Talk about having a positive attitude. This woman could give us a few lessons in life. Nice portrait Alex. I think this would look in b&w too but the color adds to the happy mood.

Great character in that face, Alex, she definitely fits the title "Dignity." You caught a good moment when her expression combines intensity with kindness.
Her skin tone is off, a bit blue, and her face is not quite sharp, but these are minor matters.

Very flydragon-ish shoot, Alex : old woman, portrait, tuned down saturation. In a way that's a success (technicallly speaking, apart from that distractingly bright area in the upper left corner), on the other hand I can't see you or your style, here.
What is style? Is style strictly personal? I dunno, that would need a longer thread to answer I guess... but what I believe is that photos show a great part of their photographer.
Following I can see Simon or someone wearing a Simon mask here. I like Simon's images but I don't want everybody to shoot Simonwise. I appreciate your style as well and won't exchange two packs of Simon against one pack of Alex+Simon, see...
Of course you could photo an old lady but I'm not sure it would be this way...
Simon, get out of Alex' mind and get back to Thailand at once.

***Hi Alex, the HTML link still has the TE address in it so that's why it's broken...**
While the desaturation is a tad overdone for my taste (I'm a curmudgeon about this sort thing actually): I find her skin a bit too bronzy rather than brown. But the moment, and the way you have framed it, is excellent. By concentrating solely on her portrait you have communicated the digity you recognise in her spirit-- without the visual context of her work we look upon her as an individual rather than just another smiling worker in a field with no backstory.
On Luko's analysis about not seeing 'you' in this picture of 'her': I suppose I agree with him but the important thing I see here is that you've done your subject justice.
