Photographer's Note

2 weeks ago, a nest was spotted on one of our garden plants. With the help of The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, I was able to identify the bird as a Yellow Vented Bulbul or locally known as "Malipago" (Pycnonotus goiavier). It is the second most common bird in Metro Manila after the Maya. The photo shows a 10 day old bird (approx) after it landed on a nearby tree on its first flight. The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines has recorded more than 100+ species of birds within Metro Manila in 2003 alone. Let's keep an eye out for these other birds.

Here's a link showing a photo of a mature Malipago courtesy of Mr. Romy Ocon and The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines: http://www.birdwatch.ph/gallery/yellowventedbulbul.html
