Photographer's Note

The hills known as 'Chocolate Hills' in Carmen, Bohol, the Philippines.

These geological wonders, about just over 1200 of them, are limestone outcroppings covered with thin layer of soil and grass (and sometimes trees). Most of them are about 4-5 stories high and resemble scoops of chocolate ice cream during the summer. Legend has it though that they are actually droppings from a greedy carabao (native buffalo).

It is now illegal to construct any structure on these hills (and I think the hills are now government property - I have to check on this) but people can still own and farm the land surrounding them.

At least the government is doing something right (as before this rule, there were actually some hills that had structures on them etc.).

Composite of 12 pictures stitched together in Photoshop CS3.
