Saint Basil's Cathedral #2, a photo from Moscow, Center

Photographer's Note

I was revising my pictures from Russia Yesterday and I felt a little bit nostalgic. It was a lovely trip...and
I couldn't resist to post a picture from there.

So...10' minutes later I was digging in my computer looking for a picture of a really famous place, something 100% russian and I decided to post (again) a picture of the Saint Basil's Cathedral, one of the most photographied places of Moscow and possibly one of the most beautiful Cathedrals I've ever seen.

But how I discovered this lovely Cathedral? Playing the popular "Tetris".... :P

A superb capture of the Russian Saint Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. I would just wait for the fg people to either move closer so they're not 'cut', or move out of the frame. Superb colour & sharpness. Have a great weekend!

Hi Oscar

The exposure is very good here, and the contrasts, as the saturation of colors makes a joyful picture. I think you could have cropped it just at the foot of the building, to avoid the silhouettes down, and to highlight better the majesty of the basilica.

The Saint Basil's cathedral is always really impressive to look at. The architecture is so stunning... It's like a castle in a fairy tale !
I remember seeing some pictures of this place on TE but never with such an incredible light.
The marvelous colours of the domes against this grey sky are striking.
An excellent presentation in a perfect quality, compliments.

Superb architecture full of strong colors and interesting shapes!
Your picture has excellent sharpness, correct exposure, beautiful colors!
In additon to that, the vertical format was the best choice for this image and I like the inclusion of people in it for some sense of scale, although I thinik you shouldn't have cut off their feet! Minor flaw, personal taste!
The composition is simple but perfectly effective!
I also like the ocntrast between the greyish sky and the colorful Cathedral!

Belle photo de cette cathédrale Moscivite de toute beauté avec ces couleurs magnifiques et ces formes genres de dômes a la superbe architecture.
Bon choix de la hauteur qui permet de voir ce bâtiment sans en perdre la moindre partie, même la pointe de la plus haute tour.

A scene almost like in a Hollywood cartoon ! Such colorfull and appealing. I think you had made it in late afternoon, with such a warm light. Most probably one of the most photographed cathedrals of Russia but still a good object for every photographer. Nice framing and good notes.

well well...... what can I say? I very seldom critique photos taken in Moscow (maybe you noticed it already). So in this case I reckon I can appreciate only the "technical" quality of this shot 'cause I can not appreciate the beauty of what I see so often and what I am so much used to! LOL
A postcard style ;) And excellent colours. I like the warm gamma.

Estos colores son increíbles, si no fuera un sacrilegio diría que parece Disneyland... pero claro que no, no lo digo! La luz y el cielo oscuro crean una atmósfera estupenda, las personas enseñan la dimension...

Hello Oscar,

This is a classic of the great Cathedral, indeed with perfect light management, colors and resolution. Three decades ago I visited the same site in the winter, neither the light nor even my Nikon F, one of the best cameras of the day, could produce such an image.
