Photographer's Note
Taken at the "Grand Cascade" of the ambitious Peterfof Palace in St. Petersburg. The place was built after the orders of Peter the Great, and is somehow considered to be the Russian Versailles. The "Grand Cascade" ornaments the front face of the main building which stands on a hill, and is famous for its extravagant use of golden statues and water sprays.

hi Deniz,
This is beautiful, surreal and beautiful. Your point of view creates such a unique vision of this place, and the choice to go black and white makes it very magical. The water seems to shimmer like liquid silver. the statue has a fine glow, and the backdrop of the palace could not be better. Excellent shot, thanks for sharing.
All the best

hallo Deniz,
So you were in Russia! I would love to go to St. Petersbourg, specially during the White Nights but I still need visa there, it seems rather complicated and finally I go somewhere else. Very original shot from famous Peterhof. We can see the jets of water from the fountain, but also some droplets as like on the glass. Were they on the lens? And who is this black golden guy, Hermes? I like the view of the domes and crosses behind the water curtain . Strange, they are latin crosses, not orthodox ones.

Hi Deniz,
Like the way you presented and cropped the statue with the unique church and fountain as a background. The b&w version was a cool and creative decision to make the view interesting. TFS!

Hi Deniz,
Those spays of water look so good in black and white. Carefully chosen viewpoint shows all the elements in good balance. Impressive shine both on the statue and those domes.

namaste Deniz, a nice presentation in monochrome and I think it is best suited for show the graphism created by the fountain. Excellent artwork in foreground and you can arrange a nice background subject too by choosing a nice POV. Excellent shot using high shutter speed. Tfs.

Hi Deniz,
this what at first glance seemed to be another fountain(or in this case cascade) shot turns into a piece of art!
Just love the way you used the gushing water to create so stunning visual effect.B&W in this case gives magnificent "silver" look to the scene.
Best regards

Hi Deniz
if I were asked to think of 100 photo's or scenes from Russia, THIS wouldn't even come close to being one of them!
haha
very unique and much different than what I expected.
but thats a good thing right!?
I really really like the way the Cross is positioned and how it is so well focused - that for me is my favorite part of the photo.
Gotta give you credits for pulling off a unique shot from St. Petersburgh
cool
cheers

Awesome image, Deniz! You know I'm studying fotos of statues for an upcoming trip, and this one shows how to harmonize the sculpture and the background architecture. The fountain helps a lot, too, yes? And your monochrome treatment is perfect, a full range from bright to dark; that can be a difficult goal.
Best regards,

This is gorgeous, the water fountains are really superb indeed and it suits the black and white perfectly. The way the statue in the foreground is seperated from the background by the sunlit water is perfect and let us well concentrate on the statue.
have a great day

Hello Deniz!
St Petersburg is on my to do list. I like the freezing of the water action and the high shutter speed has allowed us to count every individual water drop! Just a tiny bit of motion blur suggests movement. Good sharpness and tonal range with excellent graphism. Nice repetition of the bg cupolas. Tfs!

Hello Deniz,
A really wonderful picture with a great texture of the water. I like how the fast shutter speed has captured each drop of water. The square crop works well here and the black and white is nice as well. I also like the depth with the buildings in the background still sharp. Very well done.
Kind regards,
Christian

Hi Deniz
I love the life-bursting shot that you have certainly made the most of it but clearly the black gold steals the show and all set to make the most of it! The effect of catch light on the frozen water spray is fabulous as is the main subject, I think this shot offers the most strategic shooting angle ensuring the eye is held firmly there. Beautiful exposure and tonal contrasts aptly converted to mono. Congrats

Hello Deniz,
What an excellent use of b&w for this shot. Ideal also the composition with the sculpture in front and the splashing water like a curtain in front of the beautiful building in the back. Just great!

Hi Deniz!
This is really beautiful! I love the way you framed the sculpture and the top of the church, with so many crosses! The light is great and the water creates a wonderful effect! B&w seems a really good option!

i like the dark, solid form of the statue set against the shimmering towers of the palace ~ as if he was the architect looking down at his vision for it, a vision that we are able to also see in your photograph. or perhaps we are watching the slow dissolve of this palace, as it fades away under the drops of water. either way, an enchanting and imaginative p.o.v.
