Photographer's Note
I know that this famous landmark has been sent to TE perhaps a hundred times. But I have a feeling that the black clouds combined with sunlight form a frightening atmosphere which reflects well the days of " Ivan the terrible " and I decided to post it, because it looked
a bit different.
I have to apologize from TE viewers, because I miscorrectly wrote 35mm Summicron instead of NIKON Zoom 24-120mm without rechecking. No Leica lens would fit a NIKON body of course.

This is striking and beautiful. The colors and details of the architecture are perfect. The clouds add to the photo. Nicely captured!

Hi Izzet Indeed seen before but this is different. The structures and colours of the St.Basil always are so beuatiful, but that sky makes the difference. Good shot, greetings Albrecht

Well, i've made a quotation some time ago... is says this: "a photographer has the power of multiplicy, as he can show the same thing in infinite ways and perspectives. The same thing can't be shoot twice the same, because a photo is a moment and no one else ever will catch the same moment..." I was not drunk... slightly happy maybe ;)
So you did well to show us this photo, because i may have seen the St. Basil before, but never like this

Excellent capture with that grey sky. I think it only adds power to this building ;-).
I would go a little bit lower though... to see it all... in its entire glory!!

Hi Izzet,
Event if St. Basil has been seen hundreds of times, it would have been a pity not to share this picture with us. The dark clouds are the freat lighting make it absolutely outstanding!

Hi Izzet, A few days ago I posted a picture of St Basil’s (here) and in my accompanying note I said: “How do I make my photograph different from all the others?” Unless you are lucky enough to capture it against a spectacular sky . . . “ Well, you have done just that and it brings out the colours of the cathedral in a remarkable way. I too would have like to see a little less cropped off the bottom, but maybe you had a good reason for doing that. Cheers . . . David
Addition: Have just seen your note to Krystof about the scaffolding at the bottom so understand now why you had to crop so hard.

Hello Izzet,
belle image de ton séjour à Moscou.
Le ciel gris donne vraiment une ambiance excellente à cette photo.
Bon contraste grâce à un joli rayon de soleil sur St-Basil.

Hi Izzet
True to Mario's quote.
Each photographer produces each own images from the same subject.
What a wonderful architecture but unfortunately you are unable to captured it from the bottom. This will be much a perfect shot.

Excellent capture.
Did you really shoot this with a 35mm Leica lens ?
how do you fit it onto a a Nikon D100 body ?

Salut Izzet,
Le fond dramatique des nuages et la lumiere qui eclaire les coupoles sont une combinaison optimale pour faire ressortir les couleurs et details, j'aime beaucoup, ca doit etre un moment magique d'etre la au bon moment !

Hello Izzet, just went through your Moscow pictures, they are all so beautiful, not that I expected anything different of course ;-)
This is a beauty as well, the lighting, with the very dark clouds, is superb, couldn't be better. I'm so fond of these kind of skies, they give an excellent light on the subjects. You are right here about the eerie 'Ivan the terrible' feel.
I guess all the scaffolding was gone now.
I hope you had a good time.

Beautiful, striking, dramatic.... Vivid colors against a threatening sky. Thanks for sharing this, Izzet.

Hello Izzet - one of my favourite things to see in a photo of this type is a bright object under a dark sky, and this one perfectly fits that criterion.

Quite a second I thought I will have an heart attack but Leica doesn't for sure fit with Nikon. I like your p[icture and all the dimension of the Red Square is in it.
You did very good work. Thanks

Hi Izzet,
what a different look at St. Basil's Cathedral! I have a shot from a similar point, however taken during the sunny weather - and I must tell you managed to get quite close to "Ivan's the Terrible" mood :) Great photo!
Anton
