Photographer's Note
Singapore is a small Island Nation with a lot of people in relatively small area. No where is that more evident then the shopping district of Orchard Road.
This photo taken from the bottom of an escalator, part of an underpass.
I hope you like the shot,
- Dan

I like this Dan, great colours.
Maybe you could have tried it with slightly less blur, having some of the detail in the people visible.

I think this is amazing. Very original, I agree it is perhaps a bit too blurred, I didn't even realise there were people there at first glance.

Good shot. Ghosts of the shopping mall...
I like the idea and the way you treated it, the symetry of the composition, especially, makes it hard to define at first. Well done. Very irrésistible !

wicked shot dan ... i don't say wicked very often, so you can guess how impresed i am by this photo.
i've thought about doing similar shots in seoul's subway where they have lots of escalators, but none are as bright and intersting as this. the blue lights really make the shot work, along with the great advertising which is in full focus.
an awesome shot with great symetry and nice blur.
did you do any with shorter shutter speeds? it'd be interesting to see this with the people a little more 'defined'.
well done!

Giveninchytakesayard - stretching the time and space to produce a contemporary form of visual poetry in motion - I always like 'show throughs' in shots like this - the one on the left is irresistable - after the London Tube it's a little strange to see such full on advertising for one product - did they sponsor the building of the escalator - I thought I was seeing things when I first saw the pictures repeated all the way up - hard sell or what - I like the 'revelation of the sublimnal' that comes though in this shot - nice one Dan.

Hello Dan
Really well done, great exposition to get the blurred rivers of people.
Well done

Hi Dan.
Waouh, quel effet ! Cette longue pose est impressionnante et donne une ambiance très étrange.
J'adore comme cette partie centrale ressort et la perspective est top.
Bonne idée

Ah Daniel the Givenchy Escalator, slow motin factor that has created quite the eyecatching photo. Its simple and yet so very dramatic in motion. Seems these people never have time to relax. I cannot offer any suggestions to improve either other than backing up the perspective a little and have one person stand perfectly still sipping his tea! Very creatively done Dan!

Very cool shot! I like the blur of the people going by, and the river of colour that it creates. The effect is a bit ghostlike, but it also gives the impression of speed, of everything moving fast. Great work!

Hi Dan,
Mesmerizing graphism and rich hues. I had actually typed the word "irresistible" before reading the caption on the left...Your framing is impeccable here. Perhaps a little less blur would be in order, but still a very fine shot. I also like the largely two toned look here. Well done, Dan.

Hey Dan,
A great effect you have achieved here, what makes this shot for me is the strong black and white lettering in the middle which leads the eye upwards. Great work mate.

This photo is just so awesome I don't know what to even say about it. I love how the motion of the people has blurred everything but the center rail which remains in perfect focus the whole way up. Excellent DOF. Very cool shot.
Thanks,
Ryan.

This is a great imaginitive shot Dan. I love the composition and the 30 second shutter speed has created a really interesting effect.

Neato shot, I like the title too. Does it feel weird to stand there in the middle there taking photos like that? Or have you done it so much that you don't mind anymore or it feels normal?
I say, it's a bold shot. And is that a Canadian flag sticker stuck in the middle, or just a red and white napkin?
Nice one Dan.

Bonjour Dan
Stream of deads in modern style premises!
A pleasant mix of cold and warm tones and most of all, an amazing point of view for a grandiose perspective.
Quite a clever experiment!

What a great idea that was!!! In fact, it is real sharp!! Only, the people moving are making this blur-like effect. No need of photoshop! How great! You can even see the VERY IRRÉSISTIBLE ad by Givenchy on the left! Even the colors are attracting! Really, I see nothing wrong here.
Thanks for sharing,

Hey Dan!
Wonder what tunes were playing in your IPOD...
:)
Very nice composition, symmetrical and full of flow and movement (30 secs are a LOT of time (and people...) in our modern times, esp. in a crowded mall in Singapore...)
:)
I understand why you went for this spot - the blue color sure does the trick here, casting the blue colors and the tungs light"warming" up the people...I managed a WS for a monochrome version but I found out that this option if off...darn..
Have a great week!

Excellent picture, or rather comment on our busy lives led past all these images we feed into our brains and that eventually stay even after we are gone from this planet. You've managed to capture the human obsession with beauty and eternity so well that it's beyond what I thought possible :D
This would be the picture I'd send to aliens acorss the universe to sum up humans: obsessed with beauty but not even present enough to notice that they are trashing it by their mere existence... a bit pessimistic perhaps? ;D
Excellent depth, colours, time of exposition, everything.
A magnificent shot that deserves a gazillion points and six billion views :D
All the best and much more,
Julia

I like the colours and ghosts in this shot.
Only think is - how did you stand 30 or more secs in the middle without getting stampeded on by the crowd? :D
good shot

Great color, movement, and atmosphere. One or two crisp faces in the crowd would make this over the top insanely perfect.
