Photographer's Note

Gyeongbok Palace is located in Seoul, South Korea.

This is a photo of the Geunjeongjeon (Throne Hall) from the side.

Gyeongbok Palace was built as the primary palace of the Chosun Kingdom by its founder, King Taejo in 1395.

It was destroyed during the Japanese invasion of 1592 and left in ruins until 1865 when it was rebuilt.

When Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910, most of the 200 buildings on the palace grounds were destroyed once again.

Since then end of the Korean War the palace has been gradually rebuilt.
