Photographer's Note

Weligama is a small village on the southern coast between Galle and Matara where the Stilt Fisherman can be found. They sit patiently on sticks driven into the seabed. Our visit because of the distance from our hotel at Bentota was in the early afternoon, not an ideal time as the light was very strong. It was made even brighter by the reflection from the white surf. Getting detail in the faces of the fishermen when taking close ups was extremely difficult and a some of the pictures taken here were not very good. However it records a scene that you are probably not likely to visit again.
