Photographer's Note

Here you see the Pudu bridge in Tiansiang, oversight by the features of the Buddhist Siangde Temple, the traditional pagoda and the White Robed Guanyin standing 26 feet tall.

Here are some facts about them from the "Trails of Taroko" book:

"Pudu bridge
This is the only steel girder foot bridge to Siangde temple along the entire Central Cross-Island Highway. It crosses the Liwu River and connects the highway to the stairway to the temple...This is actually the area in which the Dasha River and the Tacih Jili River converge to become the Liwu River which begins its precipitous journey east to the Pacific Ocean.

White Robed Guanyin (you can see it in the vicinity of the right pilon)
Standing 26 feet tall. The statute faces Tiansiang and is visible from most places in the area.

Near the White Robed Guanyin is the Heaven's Peak Pagoda. A traditional Chinese structure of octagon and seven stories, there is a Bodhisattva to meet you at the entrance and two stairways tha you can take up to the top where there are balconies from which to view Tiansiang on one side and the mail Temple on the other.

Enjoy and visit! Alan
