I swear to God, Ken, I was just admiring this very pic on pBase and then the next thing I now it's...here. I just got done reading Simon's enthusiastic reaction to it - awesome shot, great treatment, smooth tonalities at work here but it's the dwarfing immensity of nature that grabs you in the gut...
Best,

Great photo, I love the way the sky has almost the same tranquil pattern as the ocean. Great work.

This is really good Ken. the boats on the right balance the dark skies coming in from the left. An obvious choice for b&w and good pp on it. My b&w are useless ;)

Hi Ken,
A stunning shot. Don't no the colour version (and i don't want to know) but this is very impressive. Excellent b&w treatment, really high class how you put this together. It all fitts perfectly, dark to the left, bright to the right and the clouds are drifting in...wonderful.

Hi Ken,
Nice shot. Yes, I remember the colourful longtail boat you posted before. I see all the highly enthousiastic reactions of others, but I feel that the sky, the clouds are quite soft - probably due to the noise reduction. In the distance there is some clear contrast in the clouds, but that's not the case in the foreground. And well, that is the biggest part of the picture.
Composition and point of view is great, but the biggest part of the clouds a bit soft. But that's my own opinion ;-).
Greetings! Dennis

Hi Ken,
What a great shot. The minimalistic effect gives a strong viwe and tyhe sky looks simply awesome.

Hello Ken,
Beautiful B&W shot with excellent atmosphere. Composition with boats after right is excellent. I like dangerous sky, very well framed.
Thanks for sharing.

Great compo, maybe too much water on foreground. The horizon more and less is in the middle. I post you a ws to show you my point of view. The sky is very well done.
Nice shot,
Cheers, Jean-Claude

Amazing photo Ken in a beautiful b&w conversion. The strong light in the sky has rendered a very striking image and the silky atmosphere on the water gives a nice counterpoint to that charged feeling. Incredible work here.

Very good photograph here again Ken. There's a French expression that says "c'est le calme avant la tempête" (literarily "the calm before the storm") that fit well with your shot. Well done

It's as fitting that rain starts to fall in Paris, as I start writing my post I guess!
Nice shot, just a big mood out there, truly. I like that the clouds are taking on a fantasmagoric allure, with little contours, and not too predictably dark.
I also prefer the WS, where the boatmen don't seem too stuck on the edge of the frame.

Bonjour Ken
Magnifique photo, seul petit regret, j'aurais peut-être respecté l'horizontalité de la mer.
Sinon, parfait
